Question concerning boot process
Go rename kernel.old to kernel.GENERIC (if kernel.GENERIC doesn't already exist) because each time you make a kernel, kernel.old gets overwritten with kernel. You don't want to lose a kernel that you know will boot. Then reboot. This stuff is in The Complete FreeBSD, and you really should get a copy,

Multipart Disk upgrade question.
This often delays the boot by 5-10 seconds. This is a bugger to eliminate. I finally had to ask for help in one of the MS ng's. Most of the advice did not work. However, one guy finally hit it on the head. The successful procedure entailed renaming 3 vxd files associated with the MS backup program.
